A new rutile material project in the East China Sea of Jiangsu Province, supported by Zhengzhou Institute of Comprehensive Utilization of Mineral Resources, China Geological Survey, Ministry of Natural Resources, has been formally signed and launched recently.

Through the implementation of new technology, new equipment and new reagents, rutile, garnet and omphacite minerals in Eclogite can be comprehensively recovered, so as to realize the transformation of "one ore" into "multi-ore" and greatly improve the comprehensive utilization rate. This lays a technical foundation for the efficient development of this type of titanium resources.

Relying on this technology, in 2018, the National Engineering Research Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Non- metallic Mineral Resources signed a five-year technical service cooperation agreement with Jiangsu Zaitong New Materials Co., Ltd. (2018-2022). According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides jointly established the "East China Sea Science and Technology Innovation Base of the National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Non-metallic Mines" in the East China Sea of Jiangsu Province, aiming at improving the technical level of development and utilization of non-metallic mineral resources in Donghai County and its surrounding areas. The new rutile material project in the East China Sea of Jiangsu Province, which was launched, is one of the important achievements transformation projects of the agreement.

The first phase of the rutile new material project in the East China Sea of Jiangsu Province is to deal with the construction of 600,000 tons of eclogite-type rutile concentrator and deep processing workshop annually. The estimated annual output value will reach 500 million yuan after completion, and the profit will be 200 million yuan, with remarkable economic and social benefits. The project has received strong support from Lianyungang City and Donghai County of Jiangsu Province.
