After entering the winter, more stringent environmental policies made the titanium dioxide pigment enterprise and the whole industry really feel the chill. Some manufacturers were forced to limit production because of the tight supply of natural gas after “coal to gas”exchange policy. In the last three months, the news of limited and stop production has been replaced by the original "price rise letter", which has become a frequent occurrence in the industry. According to statistics, the output reduced about 48 thousand tons during last three months.
After the fourth quarter of 2017, the environmental protection and production restriction continued. The "coal to gas" combined with tight supply of natural gas made North China stopped production. The price of natural gas is soaring, and  "gas" is difficult to get, causing the calcination process unable to be carried out.
Excepted decrease supply of titanium dioxide pigment, the raw materials of sulfuric acid, downstream of  painting, plastic, paper industr was effected by limited production policy to different degrees or even shut down. Moreover, not only the production enterprises, but also the logistics companies, because of the limited environmental protection policy, the trucks are mainly limited to run at certain areas due to severe air pollution, such as Hebei, Shanxi and Anhui.
It can be concluded that tightening of environmental policies has become a normalization.
